Exploring the various interactions of politics and the media in an age of increasing globalization is the overarching theme of my research. Trained as a political scientist, I have always tried to innovatively combine different approaches and I have found those questions the most interesting that transcended disciplinary boundaries.
My main research interests lie in political communication, the politics of European integration and the EU, and comparative political behaviour more generally. Individual projects have also dealt with social issues (abortion) and immigration.
I am currently a guest lecturer at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. Previously, I have been a senior teaching and research associate at the Department of Political Science, University of Zurich. I also was a visiting scholar at the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
My articles have been published in journals such as European Journal for Political Research, Swiss Political Science Review, and West European Politics. My most recent book is Politicizing European Integration – Struggling with the Awakening Giant (Palgrave Macmillan).
